This page hopefully lists all you would need to know about being a member of the PVAO. If after reading it you still have questions, please feel free to e-mail any of our officers with your questions. Their addresses are linked above.
Dues are $25 for adults. Children/students through high school are free.
1) The main reason for joining any club is to share knowledge with those who have similar interests. In this department you will find a wealth of information from members who have been involved in astronomy for a very long time. This group has knowledge not only about the night sky, but the equipment and astrophotography. We also have knowledge of computers, all types of photography/printing, and natural history.
2) We conduct outreach events and teach classes to educate the public about astronomy. They're lots of fun and some of them offer the opportunity for camping! We would love to have you participate with us!
3) Members also become affiliate members of the Astronomical League - a nationwide group of amateur astronomers. You will receive their quarterly journal - The Reflector
4) Our group has 2 "club" scopes we loan to members. We have a 16" Dobsonian used for outreach events. Members own lots of scopes we love to share!
5) Yearly membership card!
6) Perhaps most importantly you get to be a new ambassador for the greatest hobby there is!
