The dues for the PVAO are $25 per year for adults or $15 per year for students. You may join at any time, but yearly dues are collected in January/February of each year.
1) The main reason for joining any club is to share knowledge with those who have similar interests. In this department you will find a wealth of information from members who have been involved in astronomy for a very long time. This group has knowledge not only about the night sky, but the equipment and astrophotography.
2) New members receive a commercially produced beginning astronomy handbook which includes star charts. If you already have one, we'll work out something else for you.
3) Members also become affiliate members of the Astronomical League - a nationwide group of amateur astronomers. You will receive their quarterly journal - The Reflector.
4) Our group has just now finished the "club telescope". If you join, but don't have a telescope, with a little training we'll let you borrow it! You can't beat that!
5) Once or twice a year the group gets a free planetarium show at J.M.McDonald Planetarium in Hastings!
6) Discounts on Sky and Telescope and/or Astronomy Magazines.
7) Yearly membership card!
8) Perhaps most importantly you get to be a new ambassador for the greatest hobby there is!
